Welttag der Meteorologie

Der Welttag der Meteorologie (World Meteorological Day), der 23. März, geht zurück auf das Inkrafttreten der Konvention zur Gründung der WMO (World Meteorological Organization) im Jahre 1950, als Nachfolgeorganisation der IMO (International Meteorological Organization), die im Jahre 1873 gegründet wurde. Der Deutsche Wetterdienst vertritt die Bundesrepublik Deutschland als Mitglied dieser internationalen Organisation seit 1954.
